Wet-area evidence register

Ask for Compatible Layers and Documented Details

Specify wet zones, substrates, membranes, transitions, penetrations, testing evidence, fan and duct route, and maintenance records.

Build a clearer project record

01

Map wet zones

Label shower or tub areas, floor transitions, walls, niches, benches, curbs, penetrations and adjacent moisture-sensitive materials.

02

Name the substrate

Ask how framing, panels, mortar beds, existing surfaces and movement joints are assessed and prepared.

03

Use one compatible system record

List membrane, adhesives, drains, tapes, sealants and accessories plus current installation documents and substitutions.

04

Detail transitions and penetrations

Require drawings or photos for corners, changes of plane, drains, valves, fasteners, doors or screens and floor interfaces.

05

Define evidence and tests

Record inspections, photos and any testing required by the design or manufacturer, including timing and acceptance responsibility.

06

Trace ventilation

Map fan capacity basis, controls, duct route, termination, make-up air and closeout evidence without promising moisture prevention.

07

Create a wet-zone detail set

Draw floors, walls, niches, benches, curbs, drains, valves, corners and changes of plane with the named substrate and membrane system. Require current compatible-component instructions instead of mixing isolated product claims.

  • Label every penetration
  • Show membrane termination
  • Approve substitutions before use
08

Plan evidence before concealment

State surface-preparation checks, required inspections or tests, photograph viewpoints, cure times and acceptance responsibility. Index records by wall or floor area so later tile does not erase the installation evidence.

  • Record batch and product names
  • Photograph drains and corners
  • Close deficiencies before covering
09

Trace air to the exterior

Document fan selection basis, control strategy, intake path, duct size and material, bends, insulation, backdraft protection and exterior termination. Coordinate roof or wall penetration responsibility and commissioning without guaranteeing moisture prevention.

  • Avoid attic discharge
  • Measure or document operation
  • Keep cleaning access
10

Assemble the moisture-control evidence book

For each wet zone, record substrate, preparation, membrane, drain or receptor, corners, penetrations, changes of plane, cure times, compatible accessories and current product instructions. Add required inspection or test checkpoints and indexed photographs before tile conceals the work. Trace fan controls, intake path, duct size and material, bends, insulation and exterior termination, with commissioning evidence. Record reviewed substitutions. The book documents installed layers and airflow work but cannot promise a leak-free room, prevent every moisture condition or replace project-specific design and trade responsibility.

  • Number every wet-zone detail
  • Keep current system instructions
  • Photograph drains and penetrations
  • Trace duct to exterior
  • Close deficiencies before concealment
